How to treat and care for Mana Health Individuals as service providers
The training was held on the 30th of July at the American Samoa Community College in partnership with Window of Hope and Alliance for Strengthening Families.
This past month, we held a training focused on being able treat people with Mana Health issues like anyone else. The training was a Partnership between Window of Hope and Alliance for strengthening families at the American Samoa Community College which was attended by DHSS shelter employees as well as teachers and students from Tutuila and Manua island. It's about changing the lens we look at Mana Health individuals and just being able to see the person not the disability. It's about asking individuals what they need in order to live the life they are meant to live. It's about giving them options and choices to do what's best for them and empowering them and supporting them through their choices. It's also changing the language we use as it can hinder their recovery progress.
